A YEAR OF EMPTIES

Updated: Jun 30

Beauty brands I am obsessed with.

The best part—all brands are cruelty free

My everyday go-to clean skin tint with dewy coverage and mineral SPF. Contains a skin care base with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid for smoothing skin textures and plumps skin with hydration.

The most delicious scent perfect all year round. Think of that warm feeling on date nights by a heated lamp to cozy nights at home with a throw blanket. Made locally in Oakland with all natural ingredients like safflower and avocado oil to hydrate and sugar to exfoliate.

The best everyday cleanser. Perfect to pack on the go in my Cadence containers for nights away from home. This cleanser removes makeup and hydrates your skin all at once. Plus, Cocokind is Asian owned and locally based in San Francisco.

This lift balm was gifted to me by INK + PORCELAIN and I am currently on my fifth one. Such a hydrating balm that glides right over. Extremely buildable for a nice sheen. Made with all natural ingredients like honey, beeswax, and cupuaçu butter.

This cult favorite concealer is worth all the hype its received. Extremely hydrating with a non-messy applicator. Contains hyaluronic acid, peptides, and caffeine that hydrates, visibly plumps, and give a smooth, radiant finish.

Everything from Naturium’s collection is amazing. The brand is rooted in dermatologist-based testings and clinically effective results with affordability in mind. Asian owned brand founded by Susan Yara.

The best dry shampoo I have ever used. Scented with their signature Cheirosa '62 fragrance with notes of salted caramel and pistachio. So good they discontinued it unfortunately — but on the bright side they are in the works of creating a new version that is more environmentally friendly. In the mean time, I have been loving the Act+ Acre Plant Based Dry Shampoo.

Swap out the shaving cream canister for a shave bar of soap. It lasts twice as long as a traditional can and it reduces packaging waste. I always stock up on these Booda Butter shave bars every time I am back East Bay at the Alameda Marketplace.

TerraCycle has partnered with Nordstrom to recycle all brands and skincare product packaging. Save all of your beauty packaging and drop it off at your nearest Nordstrom to create a closed loop surrounding waste.
